Relations with cities, communities and territories

The Bureau for European Projects, International Relations and Coordination of Complex Projects supports the Mayor and the City Administration in the promotion of Modena abroad and in the enhancement of the city's international presence in accordance with the 'Regulations for the Establishment, Management and Development of International Relations with Cities, Communities and Territories [IT]' approved by City Council Resolution no. 6 of 16 January 2014.

The city of Modena maintains bilateral relations with European and non-European cities and regions through:

• Twinning agreements
• Covenants of friendship and solidarity
• Partnership Agreements
• International City Networks

The City of Modena's twinning activities and international relations refer to the fundamental rights proclaimed by the European Union and to the UN-sanctioned aims of promoting international cooperation and community development.

The Bureau, together with the Mayor's Secretariat and the Representation Office, deals with the institutional reception of foreign delegations visiting the City of Modena and organises activities and events.
