Project management
The City of Modena was one of the first in Italy to set up a specific service to facilitate the dialogue with the European Union.
Progetto Europa (this was the name of the service at first) dates back to the mid-1990s. It was created with the dual objective of placing the city in a rich and varied context of international relations and intercepting European resources, in particular those of programmes directly managed by the European Commission, through the development of high-quality project proposals.
With regard to the search for resources, the Bureau has gradually expanded its scope of activity and today it coordinates the participation of the City to diverse European funding opportunities: structural and investment funds, funds directly managed by the European Commission, European territorial cooperation, and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The Bureu applies the latest project management methodologies, and in particular Project Cycle Management (PCM), to oversee and support the City Departments throughout all the phases projects life cycle: scouting for opportunities, feasibility checks, preparing applications and budgets, searching for partners and networking, managing and reporting on funded projects, sharing project results, and facing auditing processes.
