International City Networks
International networks of cities are networks of actors from the public and private sectors, local and regional authorities, associations of various kinds, NGOs, universities, research and training centres, foundations, interested in comparing and sharing experiences and good practices on a transnational level, elaborating common projects, deepening the debate on specific topics related to urban policies.
They play a strategic function in fostering comparison between cities and promoting forms of collaboration and dialogue between them.
The presence of the Municipality of Modena in city networks constitutes an extraordinary way of comparison with other realities, of accreditation of Modena's experiences on the European and international scene and an important channel for the promotion of the city.
In addition, joining networks is a valuable tool for finding partners in the context of funding opportunities promoted by the European Union.

UNESCO Creative Cities
The Creative Cities Network is a UNESCO programme active since 2004, involving a network of 246 cities from 72 countries on five continents. The aim of the Network is to promote knowledge, cooperation and projects among cities that have identified culture and creativity as the driving forces of their development. Through the Network, in seven areas corresponding to as many cultural sectors - Music, Literature, Crafts, Folk Arts and Traditions, Design, Media Arts, Gastronomy, Cinema - cities can enhance their experiences and skills on national and international markets.
The Municipality of Modena joins the network in the Media Arts sector.

Civinet Italy
The Italian CIVINET network, which is part of the European CIVITAS initiative, is a platform designed to allow Italian cities to share experiences and good practices for the development and implementation of strategies, policies and measures in the field of sustainable mobility. In particular, the network aims to: promote the CIVITAS philosophy for sustainable mobility and its principles to other cities, the media, citizens and other stakeholders; support dialogue with local authorities, ministries and the European Union on sustainable mobility issues. In 2014, the network received official patronage from the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea.

Climate Alliance is a network that brings together European municipalities and territorial authorities, committed to a partnership with the indigenous peoples of the rainforests of the Amazon basin with the common goal of safeguarding the global climate.

This is the leading European network of local and regional authorities committed to increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in their territories. Energy Cities
Energy Cities is a network of European cities that aims to strengthen the role of local administrations in the field of energy and environmental protection, promoting the exchange of experiences and the development of shared projects among partners in the field of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and energy saving. The network is active in promoting information campaigns on environmental sustainability issues and launching pilot actions aimed at spreading greater energy awareness in public administrations, businesses, professionals and citizens.

Europe Direct is the information network on the activities promoted and opportunities offered by the European Union, coordinated by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communication. The network's main objective is to communicate to citizens and civil society in the Member States what the European Union is, how it is structured and how it works, focusing on the opportunities it offers in terms of rights, funding, mobility opportunities, and opportunities to study, train and work abroad.

European Forum for Urban Security
European Forum for Urban Security is a European network of European cities and territorial administrations united in the objective of promoting new policies and strategies for preventing and combating urban crime. EXARC
EXARC brings together a number of archaeological parks and 'open-air' museums, which, on the strength of a centuries-old tradition that has developed above all in the German, Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon worlds, constitute a privileged point of contact between research and popularisation. Through reconstructions of environments and activities of the past, re-enactments of historical events and scenes of everyday life, these realities are able to communicate the results of excavations and scientific research to a wide audience, with a strongly evocative approach.

Healthy Cities
Created by the World Health Organisation, Healthy Cities supports the promotion of policies and activities in favour of health protection and sustainable development, with particular attention to people in poverty and disadvantage and to the most vulnerable categories of citizens.

Mayors for Peace
MAYOR FOR PEACE is a network of which 8,234 cities in 166 different countries and regions of the world are members. In addition to Modena, 3,292 European cities are members of the network. Born from the appeal made by the Mayor of Hiroshima on 24 June 1982 during the Second UN Special Session on Disarmament, in 1991 the organisation was registered as an NGO with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The primary aim of the 'Mayors for Peace' network is to contribute to the achievement of lasting world peace by raising awareness among the world's citizens of the need for the total abolition of nuclear weapons through close solidarity among its member cities.

NEMO - Network of European Museum Organisations
Founded in 1992, NEMO is an independent network of more than 30,000 museum organisations across Europe.

Major Cities of Europe
Major Cities of Europe: is a network of European and non-European cities, bringing together experts in the field of innovation in cities. Its objective is to enhance the use of information and communication technologies by public administrations and sub-national levels of government in Europe and other countries. This objective is achieved through activities such as: the sharing of good practices among the members of the network; the dissemination among its members of innovative practices from all over the world; and the comparison between the members of Major Cities of Europe and their involvement in transnational projects.

Intercultural Cities Network
The City of Modena, already a member of the national network of intercultural cities "Cities of Dialogue" since 2018, has joined the Council of Europe's Intercultural Cities network.
The Council of Europe's Intercultural Cities programme helps cities to capitalise on the advantage derived from cultural diversity and to develop strategies and policies aiming at integration and peaceful coexistence between people of different ethnic, religious and linguistic backgrounds, through the mobilisation of institutions, administrators and political leaders, civil servants, experts, private sector civil society.
The programme: fosters an international exchange of local knowledge and best practices; promotes exchanges between experienced diversity management officials and intercultural mediators from different cities across Europe and the world; provides its members with advice and support in the implementation of innovative projects in the field of interculturalism; encourages joint initiatives between the network's member cities.

Tree Cities of the World
Tree Cities of the World is a programme founded by the Arbor Day Foundation, the world's leading non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting green cities, and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), to certify cities around the world that invest in green spaces.
Increasing the number of trees in urban areas can help improve air quality, mitigate climate change, reduce energy costs, manage stormwater more effectively and control erosion, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for our communities.
Thanks to Tree Cities of the World, cities from all over the world, small, medium and large, share and pool projects and best practices in the field of urban forest management, helping to raise awareness among citizens and civil society, as well as public administrations, of the fundamental role of green spaces in urban centres.
