TRAFAIR - Understanding Traffic Flows to Improve Air quality

The City of Modena takes part, as partner, to the project Trafair, whose aim is:

- to develop a set of innovative and sustainable services, able to provide citizens and local public governments with information and data on air quality, weather conditions and traffic flows;

- to create predictive models, able to calculate in advance effects and phenomenon, connected to traffic flows, air quality and weather conditions;

- to increase citizens and local public governments awareness on the importance of technologies for the monitoring and the maintenance of a good air quality.

In particular, in the frame of the project, the City of Modena will:

- collect data on pollution sources, traffic flows and weather conditions at local level;

- install a network of next-gen sensors that, through a proper monitoring, will provide, on real time basis, detailed information about air quality and traffic flows;

- implement one of the pilot actions, i.e. the participation to the development of 2 applications for mobile devices, addressed both to citizens and to local public governments, with the aim of raising the awareness on the project themes.
