The City of Modena takes part to CLASS, a project co-financed by the EU programme Horizon 2020.
Main objectives of the project are:
- to develop a software architecture able to support and integrate tools and methods of big data processing;
- to increase “real-time” capacity of big data systems, in order to get a faster and more accurate transmission of different and bulky data;
- to apply current standards in the field of share, exchange and interoperability of data to the automotive, mobility and traffic management sectors.
In particular, in the City of Modena the project pilot action will take place, with tests and trials both on street, in the so called “Automotive Smart Area” and by the Marzaglia Racetrack.
Aim of the experimentation will be to test the benefits produced by an improved big data distribution, with reference to mobility and traffic management:
- digital traffic sign application: it offers the opportunity to dynamically change traffic conditions, on the basis of real-time information. This will allow, for example, to indicate to street users the best routes, in case of accidents, or the “green routes” for ambulances, etc.;
- smart parking application: it offers information on free parking places in the area;
- obstacle detection application: it offers information to drivers on objects on street that could represent obstacles and cause accidents.
