Children As Philosophers (CAPs), project co-financed by EU programme “Erasmus+”, aims at training teachers on an innovative methodology for practising philosophy with children.

Philosophy is in fact an important tool allowing children, attending kindergartens and primary schools, to develop their cognitive abilities and providing them with the tools necessary to deal with themes as inclusion and acceptance of differences, management of problems and of challenges in life.

The project, that ends in August 2019, involves, beside the City of Modena, other local entities, school organizations and institutions of the following European Countries: Bulgaria, Germany, United Kingdom, Romania, Sweden.

The project is coordinated by the Language Education & Partnerships LTD (LEAP), a training specialised Body in UK offering a range of services of education and for trainees and educators in United Kingdom and in other European Countries.

CAPs foresees several activities as: research and monitoring of “best practices” on innovative teaching, with particular reference to primary education; development of guidelines on teaching; training events addressed to the teachers involved in the project; cultural exchanges involving children coming from schools of the different participating Countries; dissemination of project results.

From December 10th to December 14th 2017, together with the other partners, the City of Modena participated in the first project transnational meeting for teachers, that took place at the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo.
